Water pollution contributes to the global ocean acidification. This greatly and negatively affects all organisms that depend on calcification which includes corals, deemed to be a healthy ecosystem indicator. Upon death of many of these organisms, larger organisms such as fishes and arthropods lose their habitat and/or their food source. Consequently, even larger organisms such as cetaceans, sharks… starve.

Sadly, that is ocean acidification alone. Many more factors like plastic marine debris, marine life entanglement and such play a big factor in degrading the natural marine ecosystem locally and globally.
