when Lakshmi Das told the postmaster that alinhad died three months back.the postmaster was puzzled and shocked and found it hard to believe the knock on the door and his seeing Ali with tears in his eyes to be false.the postmaster wondered if it was his guilt that was making him imagine Ali infront of him or he mistook Lakshmi Das for Ali so he was bewildered.
