Binomial nomenclature is the formal naming system for living things that all scientists use. It gives every species a two-part scientific name. The father of Binomial Nomenclature is Carolus Linnaeus. The first part of the name identifies the genus to which the species belongs. For example humans belong to the genus Homo and within this genus to the species Sapiens. So the scientific name of human beings is Homo Sapiens.
