The postmaster was a haughty man and was expressionless as a pumpkin.  He barely had any feelings . But the moment he got to know of his daughter's ill health who was living far off from him , his fatherly heart awakend.  He desperately waited for his daughter's letter day and night.  It had  been just 2 days that he had not received the letter . Then , he realised the pain of seperation  , the pain of a father's heart , the pain Ali was going through from past 5 years . This incident brought about a change in his character and personality .
