When a 'strip of copper metal' is placed in a 'silver nitrate' solution, a greyish white deposit of silver can be seen of the copper strip.

EXPLANATION:

This happens because 'copper' is more reactive than 'silver' and displaces silver easily to form copper nitrate. The copper strip gets a greyish color deposit which is actually silver that has been displaced in the reaction.

The chemical equation of the chemical reaction is:

\mathrm{Cu}+\mathrm{AgNO}_{3} \rightarrow \mathrm{Ag}+\mathrm{Cu}\left(\mathrm{NO}_{3}\right)_{2}
