What can be the personal response about the poem 'Small pain in my chest'?

I personally feel that the poem has created a sense of awareness about the ill-effects of wars. I am also deeply moved by the climax of the story where the narrator dies of the small pain in his chest after listening to the experiences of the soldier who had fought a war. This poem had made me realize the consequence : pain & sorrow the people & soldiers face in the war.
