what causes lightning to strike tall buildings and trees?

Air is a bad conductor of electricity, so usually this means that things sticking out of the ground that shorten lighting's path down to earth is preferred: trees, buildings (particularly ones fitted with lightning conductors), tall hills, etc.

when lightning takes place , as we know lightning is an electricity generated due to the meeting of positive nd negative charge, so due to tis reason it needs a medium through which it can go to earrth or ground and buildings nd all that hav that conductors which conducts this flash of lightnin
