The optical density of on medium is different than the other , this causes refraction.

When light enters through lighter to denser medium or denser to lighter medium , refraction occurs .

Hi Mate

Answer

The points are:-

  • Refraction of light can be derived using classical electrodynamics.
  • Refraction occurs due to the difference in the densities of the mediums.
  • The changing of light rays when it passes through one medium to another is the cause for refraction.
  • For example if light is going from air to water , it's speed decreases so it bends towards the normal .

Hope it helps you
