what causes the earthquake?

Earthquakes are caused when tectonic plates of the Earth rub each other and causes a shock wave. They often cause damage to life and property. Focus is the point form which the earthquake originates and the point above the focus where the the damage is the highest is called the Epicentre. When the they originate in the sea, they cause huge and powerful tidal wave called Tsunami which on reaching the coast causes massive destruction.

The weak zones are also known as seismic or fault zones. in India, the areas most threatened are Kashmir, western and central Himalayas. the whole of north east, rann of kutch, rajasthan and the indo-gagnetic plane. some area of south India the danger zone.
