Due to its catenation power. catenation is the bonding of atoms of the same element into a series. Carbon is a versatile element which is found almost every where. Carbon forms bond with many elements but mainly with hydrogen named as hydrocarbon. Carbon have 4 valency which leads to continue it to make a chain of many bonds.
