The colour of the plant and different components of a plant is dependent on the pigment present in that particular plant or plant part.

Similarly,in the ripe tomatoes the chlorophylls transform into carotenoid which makes the the red colour of a ripe tomato.

Similarly, when the tomato is not ripe the chlorophylls stay intact and the colours stay green.

  • It’s a form of antioxidant a substance that protects cell damage from internal and external harm.
  • The vegetable and fruits containing lycopene are extensively used in the Indian diet.
  • The lycopene is heat resistant they tend to get condensed when comes in contact with heat, providing an extra kick of lycopene in the human system.
