Thunder is the sound caused by lightning. Depending on the distance from the nature of the lightning ,it can range frim sharp,loud crack to a long,low rumble.The sudden increase of pressure and temp.from lightning produces rapid expansion of the air sorrounding and within a bolt of lightning.
