1.Social and Economic inequality - social and economic equality is an essential condition for the successful working of democracy in a country in India there are big social and economic inequalities among the people discrimination on the basis of caste Creed religion and sector sector is made even today in India there are multi millionaire on the one hand while on the other hand they are millions who do not have the basic necessities of life.
2.Poverty- poverty in India is a great challenge to the successful working of democracy A person can neither be a good citizen know can you actively participate in political activities sometime the poor compelled to sell their votes to satisfy their daily needs even too dishonest and unscrupulous candidates.
3. Casteism is India is a caste ridden society and casting is one of the major problem of Indian democracy at the time of election almost all political parties take into consideration the caste of the candidate and the voters residing in that constitutes the candidate elected on caste basic look after the interest of the on caste and sometimes even National interest or sacrifice to safeguard the interest of the caste.
4.Communalism - communalism is another serious problem of India democracy many candidates to the Parliament or state legislatures are nominated on communal consideration and votes are cast on communal line.
5.And some other challenges are Regionalism imbalances,
Violence, Election are very expensive.
