Copper sulphate pentahydrate (CuSO4 .5 H20) is a hydrated salt and is blue in colour.
However, when it is heated the following chemical reaction takes place -
CuSO4 . 5 H2O → CuSO4 . H2O + 4 H2O
This turns copper sulphate from a hydrated salt into an anhydrous salt and its colour changes into a dirty white
