Heya friend!!
Rajdeep here.....

A bulb in a bicycle (the old method still prevalent in villages) works on the principle of electromagnetic induction, like like an AC Generator works.

First, when you rotate the cycle pedal slowly, the change in magnetic flux linked with the coil (inside the pedals) is minimum (because the pedal is rotated slowly). So very less electro motive force (emf or current) will be induced in the coil due to which the bulb will glow dimly.

According to Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction, the magnitude of emf induced is directly proportional to the rate of change of magnetic flux. Hence, slowly if you increase the speed of pedalling, the amount of magnetic flux linked with the coil will increase (and by the same amount it will decrease simultaneously). Hence the change of magnetic flux (increasing and decreasing) will be maximum. So more amount of emf will be induced in the coil due to which the bulb will glow brightly.

Thanks!!
