when we put silver chloride (AgCl2)..
in the sunlight it decomposes in it's constituent elements..........i.e, silver and chlorine .....
the chemical equation is.....
2AgCl2=2Ag+2Cl2....

and we can see that reactant is decomposed to it's constituents so this type of reaction is called decomposition reaction.......
