As earlier in context we have seen that the children gape at the television and it rots the sense in head.If the change happens and a bookshelf is installed then they would indulge themselves in reading.This would increase their imagination and will be mentally alert and active as reading sharpens their brain.They become much creative.It increases their vocabulary also.
