The Britishers included their western type of education in India and slowly their language began to be an advantage for the western-Indians because it was more easier to be learned than the Vedas and different manuscripts which were taught by the Munshis at ashrams.

Explanation:

The British believed that the people of India were uncivilized and it was the duty of the British to civilize them. some British believed that Indian learning was unscientific and often support superstitions.So the Anglicists felt that Indians should be imparted western learning.so as British involved english to the higher level education, Indians knew that to become a graduate they need to pass from English language though at primary levels the medium of instructions were vernaculars.at last the English language became the major mode of instruction from the early   19th century.
