to highlight the plight of underprivileged children that are the so-called beneficiaries of
government-funded education. Although the poem is a sharp commentary on the
striking divide between the classes of society, it ends on an optimistic note, believing
that there still exist visionaries in society who will harken to the cause of the less
fortunate in our societies.
education must be adapted to the needs of the recipients. It must be flexible enough to
meet the requirements of people coming from different sections of society. When that
happens, there is a real breaking of barriers and restrictions, and a release from
impediments that held back, and a breaking forth into new realms of freedom where
true learning can happen.
