Things changed significantly for Pozzo and Lucky during the course of waiting for Godot.
The changes were:
1. The long rope which bound them together became much shorter. It brought them closer to each other. This implied that however much a man might consider himself to be unique he is ultimately drawn or bound closer to others.
2. They underwent physical changes. Pozzo became blind and Lucky could not speak. Lucky carried suitcases filled with sand which could symbolize the sands of time. He fell down and dragged Pozzo down with him.
