After the first world war, Mohandas karamchamd gandhi took over the leadership of the Congress. He introduced the technique of non violence agitation, which was called satyr graha. He propagated brotherhood, tolerance, non violence and simple living. He opened sabarmati ashram in guarantee where people of all castes were welcomed. He forced the British government to increase the price of indigo for the benefit of peasants. Gandhiji launched many powerful mass movements.
