We know that ,
Acid + Metal ----> Salt + Hydrogen gas (H₂)
so ,
when zinc(metal) react with HCl , Zinc Chloride(salt) is formed and hydrogen gas is liberated.
Zn + 2HCl ---> ZnCl₂ + H₂ [ balanced equation ]
This reaction is an example of single displacement reaction.
Also , this reaction is an eg: of redox reaction .
