Answer:

Before The War:

Before the 1857 war English officers had adopted the ways of the Indians and had even started to dress like them! They rode on elephants and had a following of officers just like the Mughal Emperors' state procession. Many of them married Indian wives and their children came to be called 'Anglo Indians' .

After The War:

After the war of 1857, the British isolated themselves behind their exclusive Gymkhana clubs and Civil Lines residential areas with huge bungalows on spacious, tree-lined roads. Families of civil and military officers were encouraged to come out and live in India and a whole culture of white Sahibs and Mem-Sahibs was formed with many Indian servants to serve them.

Explanation:

Before the war, to win the hearts of the Indian people as their rulers, British adapted the ways of Mughal-ruling and also started to dress like them.

After the 1857, British thought of Indians as ferocious revolts so they abandoned them, including their own Indian wives. After that they were considered extremely low-classed in their British society and British also became no help for them.
