If the same blood cell is placed in ahypotonic solution, the blood cell grow in size . Blood cells is isotonic solutions do not shrink or swell .When RBC is placed in hypertonic solution, water within the cell moves out via osmosis into the surrounding solution,causing the red blood cell to shrink and shrivel.
