You will NOT require woollens in Kovalam, Kumarakom, Allepey or indeed in any of the coastal regions of Kerala. It is not cold at night. There is no winter as such, it is just that the humidity is less than the usual 70%++ prevalent in other seasons and the day temperatures may be around 28-32C. In the sun, it is pretty warm. 

I see that you are from Delhi, believe me Delhi is freezing in winter compared to the Kerala coastal area.

Regular cotton garments will do. You can keep a light cotton shawl or wrap if you feel your kids will need it.

Munnar and highland regions will be cold at night, sunny and cool in the daytime.
