Phenolphthalein a synthetic indicator which remains colourless in acidic and neutral medium whereas it changes it's colour to pink in basic medium.

Basic salt is formed when a strong base and a weak acid react with each other.

Since the strength of one of the reacting species is more (in this case it is a base), the nature of the product formed is according to the nature of the stronger reacting species (in this case the salt will be basic in nature).

Therefore, phenolphthalein will turn pink basic salt solution.
