There is a mistake in this question. It should be 2.94 after 0.98 instead of 2.49. I have solved a similar question day before yesterday. So, I am solving it assuming that last number in the series is 2.94 instead of 2.49.

The correct answer of this question is 11.76

Explanation -

0.49 + 0.49 = 0.98  (0.49 is multiplied by 2 or added 2 times)

0.98 + 0.98 + 0.98 = 2.04 (0.98 is multiplied by 3 or added 3 times)
