The next in this sequence of “prime numbers 11, 13, 17, 19” is 23.

To find:

11, 13, 17, 19, ?

Solution:

Prime numbers are the numbers which are divisible by ‘1’ and the ‘number itself’. These ‘numbers’ are not divisible by “any other numbers” other than 1 or the number itself.

For example, 11 is divisible by 1 & 11. i.e., the number itself and by no other number. Likewise, 13 is divisible by 1 & 13, 17 and 19 are divisible by 1 and by 17 and 19 respectively.

Hence, the next prime number is 23 after 19 in the above referred sequence 11, 13, 17, 19.
