When you hear noise, your mind tends to get worked up at times. It keeps worrying about the noise and what could have caused it. In other words, the mind is disturbed and not able to focus on anything.

When you hear silence, your mind reacts just the opposite of how it did to noise. It is calm and composed. The mind is  completely at ease and is able to pay full attention to what is being done.
