The other man (second passenger) tells that Easton is young to hold office. Thinking that he is a Marshall without knowing that he is the criminal. And I think he did not praise Easton. The first passenger praised the glum faced man (actual Marshall) for acting as criminal and saving Easton (actual criminal) from embarrassment
