What conclusion do we get from the observation that a fountain of water is created at the leaking joint of pipes of the main water supply line ?

The leakage at the pipes of the joint is due to the pressure acting on the pipes.

  • The pressure is linked with the weight of the liquid.
  • As we start pouring more and more liquid which means, more the pressure will be acting at the bottom portion.
  • The pressure and weight are directly proportional to each other.
  • The pressure exerted by the liquid under water is small but as we go down at the bottom the pressure will increases.
  • The same case with joint of pipes as they are the bottom, so they will face higher pressure.
  • That leads to cracks and there will be leakage.

Answer:

Explanation:

The leakage at the pipes of the joint is due to the pressure acting on the pipes.

The pressure is linked with the weight of the liquid.

As we start pouring more and more liquid which means, more the pressure will be acting at the bottom portion.

The pressure and weight are directly proportional to each other.

The pressure exerted by the liquid under water is small but as we go down at the bottom the pressure will increases.

The same case with joint of pipes as they are the bottom, so they will face higher pressure.

That leads to cracks and there will be leakage.
