what conclusion was drawn by mendel after obtaining F2 progeny in a dihybrid cross
Answers
he came to a conclusion that some traits are dominant and some are recessive. the recessive trait didn't show in f1 progeny but expressed in f2 progeny i.e, they are inherited but as they are recessive they didn't express themselves in f1 but in f2. through this law of dominance was explained by Mendel
The conclusion drawn was of the dominant and recessive trait.
He observed that the traits which were quite insignificant during F1 or the first filial generation, were also able to depict their own progeny in the second crossing or F2.
As in the first crossing they were highly dominated by the stronger traits which are shown by upper case letters with a ratio of 3:1. But while the second crossing, we obtain a ratio of 9:3:3:1. So we can see the significance of the recessive traits here too.
And the overall ratio is of individual character expression is 1:2:2:4:1:2:1:2:1.
