the narrator was very desperate for inspirartion to wrie down a ghost story. helen found his mind quite impressionable and helped him. she was going on a strike because as the people had developed new fad of ouija boards and kepy calling them all the time to answer their questions. she was now exhausted and needed some rest.she wanted the narrartor to exert his influence and get all his accquintances to stop using the ouija boards, only then she would help him in writing the ghost story
