The two parts are the central nervous system and peripheral nervous system . The central nervous system (cns) contains the brain and the spinal cord .

The peripheral nervous system (pns) contains the nerves.

CNS is protected by number of structure .

The entire cns is enclosed in bone. The brain is protected by the skull while the spinal cord is protected by vertebra of the spinal columm.
