Xylem consists of tracheids, vessels, xylem fibres and xylem parenchyma. parenchyma cells are the only living cells in xylem.

Phloem consists of companion cells, sieve tubes, Phloem fibres and Phloem parenchyma. Only Phloem fibres are dead cells in Phloem.
