Explanation:

Anton van Leeuwenhoek, a Dutch businessman pursued microscopy and reported existence of a type of cells like human sperms, bacteria, R.B.C and other.

M.J. Schleiden (1838),a German Botanist and T.S. Schwann (1839), a Zoologist Established the cell theory.

CELL THEORY:-

1) All living organisms are made up of cells.

2)Cell is the structural and functional unit of life.

3) Cells contain genetic information which is passed on from cell to cell during cell division.

4) All cells arise from pre-existing cell. ( Rudolf Virchow 1858).

5) Cells are self-replicating, self-contained units and some cells are totipotent.

Totipotency:- It is the capacity or the potential of living nucleated cell to differentiate into any other type of cell and thus can form a complete new organism. (E.g. Stem cells).
