Inspite of agriculture they should start some non agricultural activities of shopkeeping, fishing, dairy farming, cattle farming, tailoring, etc.

a. Small and landless farmers considered to be the most vulnerable section as they are also subjected to social discrimination since most of these workers comprises of schedule caste, schedule tribes and other backward communities and are victims of poverty.

b.  They can thus look for alternate employment , which can help them to improve their condition

For instance they can involve themselves in the transportation .

c.  They can also  involve themselves in non farming activities like dairy farming, can open their small business outlets selling grocery or household products, can work in small scale manufacturing units like converting sugarcane into jaggery, which can help the to improve their overall condition.

d. Further, small farmers in our county generally have small and fragmented piece of land which acts as a major hindrance for them to expand production. They can thus contemplate to engage in collective farming whereby small farmers with small land holdings can collectively cultivate and increase productions.

e. Collective farming can also help them to avail the benefits of multiple cropping whereby they can grow kharif, rabi crops.
