Answer:

We decide whether something is alive by its adaptability to the environment for better survival chance. The various body processes, like the metabolism and catabolism.

A thing which is alive must go through the process of

  • respiration- be it aerobic or anaerobic.
  • nutrition- a living thing cannot survive without nutrition; all living things need food to survive.
  • excrete out unwanted and toxic substances.
  • Growth - This is the process by which the nutrition is used in the permanent increase in the number of cells and size of the organism.
  • Stimulus- They need to respond to the change in surroundings.
  • have the urge to reproduce- for the continuation of species.

Anyway life can't be understood by any means. Life is unique. Smallest living thing- cell but it is formed of non living things like organelles. Organelles are formed by proteins. Protiens comprise of molecules. The very same molecules which make up everything else.

Explanation:

Any visible movement such as walking, breathing, or growing is generally used to decide whether something is alive or not. However, a living organism can also have movements, which are not visible to the naked eye.
