Mrs. Pumphrey took the decision to finally send him to the surgery in regards to his deteriorating health. She loved him and was therefore concerned why he wasn't eating his favorite dishes. Also on meeting James Herriot, she confessed that Tricki was very unenergetic. All this circumstances led to her decision of sending Tricki to Dr. James Herriot's surgery.
