Answer:
Today's education system acts as a root for a rat race where millions of students compete with each other working tirelessly for long hours. This rat race is all directed to a piece of paper which is "indispensable" in judging our future. This is also that piece of paper that judges you not on how well you understand the concept but on how well you can memorise it. Education is meant to open doors of opportunity to discover, learn new things and unlock the secrets of nature and the world.
As a student, I believe that the significance given to examinations and grades and “whether his score was higher than sharma ji ka ladka “ by parents and everyone around is extremely stressful to the student and no wonder student suicide rates have been on a rise.
Currently, education is just a narrow prison of mundane thoughts which prohibit you from thinking outside the box and doing things on your own. As quoted by Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful tool which you can use to change the world" but I believe that for education to adversely change the world, it is crucial for us to remodel it into ways which bring out thinkers, not machines.
The defect found in the existing school curriculum is judging a student on the basis of their marks. This damages the student's real talent. for example- if a student is good at sports or a student has excelled in art, but gets very low grades, that student might be forced to repeat a class or two in higher classes. Also in some schools, students are allotted their stream for 11th and 12 on the basis of merit. if they are interested in non medical but for some reason they dont get good grades in their 10th board, they will have to change their school to get non medical as their stream for 11th and 12th
