Ann Moore is a trained pediatric nurse who has invented and discovered the baby carrier in 1969.

She was one of the earliest volunteers of the Peace Corps and did some fantastic humanitarian work in Morocco and Germany.

Her husband Mike Moore was her French language teacher and they together worked in Togo during the 1960s.

She developed the infant carrier after the birth of her daughter, Mandela, when she came to the US.

Her motivation for the same was from West African women who would wrap their child in a shawl on their back, though, that method was not very helpful for her at first.
