Jackson's victory was made possible by the growth of the franchise. Jackson was the first president who was decidedly not from an elite family. His election was due in part to the fact that more and more states were introducing universal white manhood suffrage.

Known as the "people's president," Jackson destroyed the Second Bank of the United States, founded the Democratic Party, supported individual liberty and instituted policies that resulted in the forced migration of Native Americans. He died on June 8, 1845.12-Mar-2020
