Yudhisthira when noticed that his brothers lost their cheerfulness, he asked Nakula to find pool nearby. Nakula replied that he could see water plants and cranes. So, Nakula was sent to get some water to drink. But when Nakula found out the pool, a voice came asking to answer his question and then have water.

But Nakula drank water without answering and he fell dead. Likewise, Sahadeva also fell dead as he drank water in thirst without answering questions. Hence, when Arjuna went to the pool, he saw that his brothers were lying dead near the pool.
