Answer:

Though Douglas was extremely frightened he had his wits intact so on his way down he started to plan. He decided that when his feet would hit the bottom he would make a big jump, come to the surface, lie flat on it and then paddle to the edge of the pool.

Answer:

Douglas was so scared, but he had wisdom about him, so  he started  his plans on the way down.

Explanation:

  • Douglas was sitting alone on the edge of the YMCA  pool waiting for others to come, he probably got a big bruise from an 18-year-old boy.
  • He asked Douglas if he wanted to duck. So he picked up Douglas and threw him at the deep end of the pool.
  • Douglas sat down and landed in the pool, swallowed the water, and immediately went  to the bottom of the pool.
  • Douglas was so scared, but he had wisdom about him, so  he started  his plans on the way down.
  • When his foot hit the bottom, he decided to take a big leap, go out to the surface, lie flat on it, and row to the edge of the pool.
  • At that moment, the 9-foot pool felt like 90 feet, and before hitting the bottom, he felt his lungs were ready to rupture.
