Dr. Norton wanted Mr. Cooper to ask Mr. Varley whether he would be allowed to spend a night at Blackwood House, so he could see for himself if the house was suitable for him and if the rumours about the White Visitor were true.
Dr. Norton was reading on his bed in a room in Blackwood House, when the clock outside struck midnight. Then, the door opened and a figure clad in white crept inside the room. It ordered Dr. Norton to leave. Dr. Norton refused, and jumping out of bed he grabbed at the figure, and pulled off the cloth to reveal Mr. Cooper, thus solving the mystery of the White Visitor.
