when Prospero and Miranda were put abroad in a rotten boat ,Gonzalo provided them with food ,clothes, water and some books for prospero from his library.

Gonzalo, being a nobleman from Naples, was ordered to take Prospero along with Miranda to the sea and kill them. But he, being a kind man, could not kill them. Instead he gave them some dresses, linen and other necessary items.
They escaped from the place by a boat that was already arranged by Prospero’s people. Gonzalo knew that Prospero loved reading books and so he made sure that Prospero’s library would be safe and would remain as it is.
