Siddhartha Gautama was said to be Buddha .The word Buddha means as Bu is above and dha is intellect. So one who is above his intellect is called Buddha. So buddha was the enlightenment one too.

He was a son of King and could live and die so. But once in the midnight , he left his palace and went to seek the ultimate truth. So after alot of suffering, he one day sat under a tree meditating , and after a time he became enlightned , the buddha. The tree was called Bodhi tree.

So Gautama Siddhartha became Buddha this way.
