With the help of Alexander Graham Bell Helen and Miss Sullivan discovered that Miss Sophia had probably read the story at Brewster, though she was not sure. However it was confirmed that she did have 'Birdie and His Friends'. In 1888 Helen spent the summer vacation Mrs. Sophia C. Hopkins at Brewster. Mrs Hopkins had read many different stories to Helen for amusement and she felt sure that she had read her 'Birdie and His Friends'. The 'Frost Fairies' written by Miss Margaret T.Canby had appeared in 'Birdie and His Friends'.
