In the starting of the lesson, Lencho had hoped for rain as he felt that his field needed rain for the ripening of corn but the in turn of that, there was a hailstorm so he was hoping for something else.

Lencho was a person who had deep faith in good.

After his crops had been ruined because of the huge storm, he felt that only god could help him get a better life. The next day, Lecho had written a letter TO GOD and asked for some amount of money for them to survive. After a few days, when Lencho received the mail and saw there was less amount of money, he felt as if the postmasters had removed some money as he knew that god wouldn't have made a mistake.

From this we get to know that Lencho was a very innocent man yet had deep faith in god and was hoping for the good in the near future after his crops had been ruined because of the storm.
