Mandela adressed the people as the gathering as rainbow gathering .

It is because in that gathering on the day Mandela's inauguration, people of all races , castes , religions , colours gethered there.

It was tenth of May, the swearing in ceremony of Mr. Nelson Mandela as the president of South Africa. Dignitaries from all the countries reached Pretoria to attend the ceremony. Mr. Mandela gave heart-touching and inspirational address to the audience. He said that never ever any oppression would take place in South Africa thenceforth.  

He said in the presence of all the dignitaries and thousands of South African nationals he conferred glory to new born liberty. He said a new society had been born out of long sufferings of which all would be proud.  

He thanked all the international guests for having come to witness the grand moments in which the South African people had won justice, peace, and dignity.

He concluded his address by praying to God to bless Africa.
